In the past years, we have many patients with itchy scalp symptoms. I think the increase is due to the excess use of external products. And yet, there are of course some skin conditions where the scalp is itchy.
If you have an itchy scalp, it is best that you visit a dermatologist. In the dermatologist you will be examined for a scalp disease.
In some skin conditions such as psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis, the scalp of the hair bearing skin can become itchy. There might be no visible flaking or rash but only itchiness. At times there might be a burning sensation, and the itching will resume.
The hair experts think it is for best to use as little hair products as possible, and receive medical treatment for itchiness. There are also some special shampoos. We advise our patients to use those too.
