How is the Length of the Punches That Are Used During the Hair Transplant Determined?

The length of the punches that we insert at the FUE motor is determined by the thickness of skin in a patient, for instance, if the skin is thick, we use the 0.8 mm punches, if the patient’s skin and fat tissues are thin, we use the 0.4 mm punches. In our patients with Turkish and European origins, we use the 0.4 mm long punches and can easily extract the hair follicles.

In patients with other genetic structures such as people coming from the Arabian Peninsula, Africa, and from some European countries, we use the 0.8 mm long punches. We measure the thickness of our patient’s scalp skin and choose the length of the punch accordingly.
