Does One Experience Numbness and Loss of Sensation After Hair Transplant?

Hair transplantation takes about 8 hours. During these 8 hours, for our patients not to feel any pain, we numb the skin. In order to numb the skin, we give the patient anesthetics.

Because the hair bearing skin is an immobile area, one does not feel any pain after the surgery. Also hair transplant is not a surgery that has side effects such as numbness or loss of sensation after surgery. The hair bearing skin is anesthetized and during the whole process it is numb in order for our patient not to feel pain. One day after surgery you usually do not experience numbness or loss of sensation when you touch your hair bearing areas of your scalp or accidentally hit your head somewhere. Hair transplantation is a surgery that has no permanent side effects.
